The short answer:

Our frying pans are free from PFAS, PFOA, PFOS, and other fluorinated substances. We use a ceramic coating that does not contain any fluorinated substances at any stage of the production process. The ceramic coating is made from sand and clay, which is why it has been classified as "PFC-free and PFAS-free" by TÆNK.

The long answer:

Our non-stick coating consists of a ceramic composition made from natural materials, primarily silica (sand), which forms a clay-like structure. This ceramic coating interacts with the metal in our pans, providing a completely chemical-free non-stick experience. Our product is free from PFCs and PFAS, meaning it contains no fluorinated substances or chemicals.

Do your frying pans contain PFAS, PFOA, PFOS, or other fluorinated substances?

To better understand these terms, here is a breakdown of each:

  • PFAS: A collective term for a wide range of fluorinated substances. This includes both hazardous and banned chemicals, as well as commonly used substances that are neither illegal nor harmful.
  • PTFE: The technical term for the world's most commonly used non-stick coating, also known as TEFLON. PTFE is part of the fluorinated substance group within the PFAS family.
  • PFOA/PFOS: These two harmful substances were banned many years ago and are also part of the large group of fluorinated PFAS chemicals.

Both PFAS and PTFE/TEFLON are fluorinated substances. If you wish to completely avoid fluorinated substances, you should not purchase a product that contains PTFE/TEFLON.

But back to the question: Does our coating contain PFAS?

Our frying pans use a ceramic coating that is completely free from all PFAS substances. This means there are no fluorinated substances in our products at any stage of production. A ceramic coating is made from sand and clay and then baked. Therefore, it has been classified as "PFC-free and PFAS-free" by TÆNK.
